Networking 101

Did you know most jobs are secured with the help of networking? That's why maintaining and nurturing your network is so important. When you cultivate relationships, you can learn more about an industry or position, gain perspective, get the inside scoop on a company or hiring manager, or hear about potential new opportunities before they're posted. Even better, you are likely to gain lifelong professional colleagues or friends, and ultimately cultivate allies who will advocate on your behalf, even when you're not around!

This workshop offers concrete, practical steps to get you started on what hopefully becomes a new life skill -- networking. The good news is, the more you reach out to others, the more you learn, the easier it gets, and the stronger your network becomes.

Spoiler alert: Soon others will come asking you for a networking meeting!

Job Search

Job Search Strategy 101

Managing a successful job search is not rocket science, but it does require organization and a little bit of discipline. When done well, a well-run job search, like a well-run project at work, flows smoothly.

This workshop will introduce you to some important tools to keep your job search on track and easy to manage. In doing so, you'll be able to proceed with the confidence that you are paying attention to the "urgent" items (like, getting those thank you notes sent), as well as the "long term important, but no less urgent" ones (like researching a potentially interesting industry or reaching out to some new people who can help you learn more).

Once you have a system in place, the nitty gritty of job search administration will be easier and easier, so you can focus on the more important aspects of research, networking, telling your stories, and finding the right job for you.

Resumes 101

A good resume addresses both strategic and practical realities. It should present you, your talents, your experience, and your skills in the best possible light, such that your accomplishments and success stories come across as impactfully as possible. It also needs to be readable, able to score high when scanned by an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and easy to customize.

This workshop covers not only the basics of resume building, but it also helps you communicate your stories and strengths like a pro!
